Eating Disorders
Dr. Labat works extensively with adults and adolescents in recovery from eating disorders. Her skill-set developed while providing individual, group, and family therapies at the inpatient, partial, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care while at the Center of Pediatric Eating Disorders at Children Medical Center of Dallas. She also incorporates therapeutic techniques to improve mindfulness, self-esteem, and the expression of feelings that support the recovery process.
Adolescence
The transition from adolescence to adulthood can be a difficult path to navigate at times. During this period, parents may struggle to understand their child’s changing emotional world. The adolescent may also wrestle with the highs and lows of his or her emotional experience. Dr. Labat’s approach with this group is to identify strengths and develop effective coping strategies that will last a lifetime.
Parent Coaching
Parents also experience conflicts with their children that can be confusing. Parents may ask, “What am I doing wrong?” and “Why don’t my child and I get along?” Even though these questions are common, parents may feel that they are always supposed to have the right answers at the right time. These questions are not always easily answers. My role is help parents not only feel supported, but to also develop tools to assist in navigating the complexities of parenting in today’s world.
